For applications where carbide is brazed to steel, it is often desirable to use a strip product with a copper center. The copper serves as an absorber of thermal expansion as well as shock. These products are referred to as plymetals and are available in several compositions.

#A50N Plymetal
A popular cadmium-free choice that delivers superb performance. Silvaloy #A50N serves as the braze alloy. Melt Point = 1220°F Flow Point = 1305°F
#2501 Plymetal
Uses Silvaloy #A40N2 as the braze alloy. It's cadmium-free and provides good strength and wetting action on carbide. Melt Point = 1220°F Flow Point = 1435°F
#5031 Plymetal
Used historically as the primary composition for joining carbide to steel. It's use has become limited due to the presence of cadmium. Displays exceptional strength and flow characteristics. Melt Point = 1170°F Flow Point = 1270°F
