We pride ourselves on the services we provide, relationships we build with our customer base and our world-class products. For all products manufactured, we help our customers achieve the lowest cost per piece by educating you on the best practices for your broaches and by providing in-field service staff, technical resources to assist in trouble shooting, and consultation on part processing, machine evaluation, handling etc.
Colonial has the capacity to manufacture tools as small as 6mm in diameter to as large as 300mm. Our maximum length capacity is 3000mm". Our Standard deliveries are 8-10 weeks from receipt of order but we also offer premium deliveries of 2-4 weeks if required.
SPLINE AND SERRATIONS
One of the most common broaching operations is cutting splines or serrations in machined holes. The broach is guided in the round hole and the top of each broach tooth cuts the splines progressively deeper, generating the sides of the form as the depth increases. Splines, either straight or involute and serrations are produced efficiently by broaching.
From standard involutes to special splines, Colonial is the supplier you want to help you achieve the lowest cost per piece. With our in-house engineering, let us design the best tool to suite your application.
ROUND HOLES
These broaches are used to finish round holes to close tolerances with good surface finish. They are generally pulled through the work but may also be pushed through if stock removal is moderate.
Implementing our own patent #4850253, we can hold +/- .005mm with a .4-micrometer finish.
KEYWAYS
These broaches are generally standard sizes (see keyway standards), many of which are carried in stock. Special sizes can be made to order including the designs to chamfer the bore as part of the operation.
