Plastic Ingenuity continues to be an industry leader focusing on design and green innovation. PI has sampled over 200 different bio-material/bio-material combinations whose feed stock is not exclusively petroleum based. Plastic Ingenuity has achieved a fair amount of success using many of these materials, and continues to investigate additional materials that will provide customers with many green alternatives.

Plastarch Material, or PSM, is one of the many bio-materials that Plastic Ingenuity has been exploring to strengthen its sustainable offerings. PSM is predominently corn based and is completely biodegradable. The resin's primary component, corn, is a sustanable material readily available throughout the world, and capable of renewing its supply annually, which makes it a great choice when going green.

Compared to polypropylene or PVC, PSM offers a similar level of water and oil protection, while remaining biodegradable. PSM meets both the American, ASTM standard 6400 and the European Union Standard EU 13432 for compostability, which means that within 180 days, 90% of the material is gone.

Through extensive research and development, Plastic Ingenuity has been able to vastly improve the dependabiliby of PSM parts produced. The addition of 100% bio-additives to the material has increased our quality, and positioned us to be ready to sell PSM in any consumer packaging applications.
