Master Bond Inc., Hackensack, N.J. has introduced a new two component radio-opaque epoxy adhesive called EP21BAS. This compound has outstanding physical strength properties and is resistant to water, oils, fuels, acids, bases and salts. It adheres well to similar and dissimilar substrates. EP21BAS is an electrical insulator and has a volume resistivity of >1014 ohm cm. It is serviceable over the wide temperature range of -60°F to +250°F.
Master Bond EP21BAS has a 1 to 1 mix ratio, weight or volume. Additionally EP21BAS has the unusual characteristic of being able to adjust the properties of the cured system by altering the mix ratio. Adding more part "A" (e.g. 2:1 mix ratio) gives a more rigid cure while adding more part "B" (e.g. 2:3 mix ratio) gives a more forgiving cure.
EP21BAS has a tensile strength >7,500 psi and a tensile modulus of >330,000 psi. It has a Shore D hardness of >60. It also features exceptional dimensional stability and has a coefficient of thermal expansion of 48 in/in x10-6/°C. It has a cured elongation of >4%.
Master Bond EP21BAS is easy to apply and spreads evenly. It is available for use in ½ pint, pint, quart and gallon container kits.
