USA Tolerance Rings - Magnet Mounting Magic with USA Tolerance Rings

See Product Details

The demand for convenience and safety in today's products requires the integration of sophisticated monitoring systems. Electronic sensors are in electric motors, optical encoders, servo systems and automotive enhancement systems. These sensors need to be able to withstand shock and vibration, have exact positioning, and still fit into restricted locations. Fortunately, there is now a cost effective option for sensor mounting: the use of Tolerance Rings. In simple terms the Tolerance Ring is a radial spring ring with corrugation, that is press fitted between two mating components, generating a retention force that fixes components together.

Sensor magnets are brittle and subject to damage during mounting. Tolerance rings allow the use of low assembly forces without the need to hold tight mating component tolerances. The tolerance ring radial spring acts as a radial spring, holding the components securely.

The Tolerance ring magnet assembly can also improve NVH characteristics. Tolerance rings assemblies give consistent X-Y performance over a wide temperature range.

Unlike glue, the stainless steel tolerance ring has no cure time and saves in the assembly process.

Summary:

1. Tolerance rings require low assembly forces

2. Accurate positioning over 360 °

3. Reduce tolerance requirements for mating components

4. Economical

5. Operates over a wide temperature range

6. Improves NVH characteristics

7. Reduce assembly cost

Tolerance Rings are an inexpensive solution for the simple assembly of sensor magnets. The low forces that are required during assembly with a tolerance ring eliminate damage to brittle magnet materials. There is no need to hold tight component tolerances; the radial spring forces hold the components securely and provide a flexible coupling, which can help with NVH issues. The ring gives consistent performance over a wide range of temperatures. Accurate positioning can be accomplished with the ability to rotate the holder in 360 degrees.

The ability to rework a component can save time and money. Unlike Glue the stainless steel ring has no curing time and does not react with the magnets surface. Along with its rework ability, there are no high capital equipment cost for assembly lines, no long curing times or environmental issues with overspill or employees heath risks.
