About Metal Tubing

Metal tubing is made of metallic elements or alloys and designed for specific industrial applications. Materials of construction include aluminum, brass, bronze, copper, titanium, gold, silver, platinum, steel, and stainless steel. Metal tubing made of proprietary materials such as Hastelloy® (Haynes International, Inc.) is also available.  In terms of function, there are two basic types of metal tubes: electrical and mechanical. Electrical tubing is used to hold and contain electrical wires. Mechanical tubing has stronger cross-sections and is designed for structural applications. For both types of metal tubes, dimensional specifications include inside diameter (ID), outside diameter (OD), and wall thickness. Inches (in), millimeters (mm), and centimeters (cm) are common units of measure. Some metal tubes have round or oval-shaped cross-sections. Others are square or rectangular.

Products & Services Related to Metal Tubing

Medical Tubing
Medical tubing is made from a variety of materials and is typically sterilized and small in diameter. Glass, metal, plastic, and rubber silicone tubing are used in a variety of medical applications.
Plastic Tubing
Plastic tubing is constructed of many different plastic compounds for flow lines for fluids and gases in pneumatic, hydraulic, process, medical and many other specialized applications.
Rubber Tubing
Rubber tubing is used in flow lines for fluids and gases in a variety of hydraulic, pneumatic, process, medical, and specialty applications.
Tubing
Tubing is used to transport fluid and gas in pneumatic, hydraulic, or process applications. Tubing differs from pipe in that tubing's outside diameter or size is controlled and used for product designation.
