About Industrial Winches

Industrial winches are pulling devices that use a wire, rope, cable, strap or web to move heavy loads. They typically use a drum or reel for line storage and are either manually operated or powered by an electric, pneumatic, or hydraulic motor. Electric motors use single-phase or three-phase voltages and are often coupled with a direct drive to maximize power output. Pneumatic motors include flow valves that control winch speed by varying air flow. Hydraulic motors are powered by pressurized hydraulic fluid and transfer rotational kinetic energy. Industrial winches with gasoline-powered engines are also available. Most winch drums are made of fabricated steel and designed for a specific loading capacity. For push-pull applications, grooved drums are used to ensure that equal diameters are maintained during winding and unwinding operations. Free spooling drums and pressure rollers are also available. To minimize friction load loss, heavy-duty industrial winches include ball and roller bearings. Helical gear reducers and anti-friction components reduce noise, increase torque, and ensure proper spooling.

Industrial Hoists
Industrial hoists are lifting and pulling devices that use a cable, rope, or chain to move or lift a load. Hoists are primarily used for vertical lifting, and usually have a feature for ceiling mounting such as a hook or trolley mount.
