Device Classification

   Your choices are...

   Sensor

Device is a sensor/transducer. Its output is meant for processor, controller or data acquisition system. No display or user interface.

   Sensor System

Device is an instrument, it has display and/or user interfaces. It can be a self-contained unit.

Search Logic:      All products with ANY of the selected attributes will be returned as matches. Leaving all boxes unchecked will not limit the search criteria for this question; products with all attribute options will be returned as matches.
   Measurement Output
   Your choices are...

   Extinction or Extinction Coefficient

The attenuation of light in its passage through an aerosol due to (light) scattering and absorption.

   Percent Opacity

Percent opacity is a measure (usually in percent) of light extinction, defined as one minus the transmittance of an aerosol cloud. This is used mainly to assess the obscuration by smoke plumes.

   Percent Transmission

Percent transmission is the ratio of the detected irradiance to the source irradiance for a beam passing through an attenuating medium. The relationship between transmission and opacity follows: % Transmission (light through the smoke) + % Opacity (light blocked by the smoke) = 100%

   Optical Density

Optical density is the logarithm (base 10) of the reciprocal of the transmittance.

   Soot Number

Soot number is also referred to as the smoke spot number.

   Dust Density

Dust density is the concentration of dust in the sample volume.

   Other

Other unlisted, specialized, or proprietary configuration.

Measurement Technique

   Technology Type
   Your choices are...

   Transmissometry

In transmissometry, light is absorbed and scattered as it passes through a mixture of gas and particles. It compares the intensity of the emitted light with the received light. Transmissometry is the optical technique of measuring the attenuation of a light beam passing through a medium.

   Scattered Light Principle

Scattered light principle says that a light beam emits infrared light, which is scattered by particles in the gas. This technology is used to detect very low concentrations. Scattered light principle is the deflection of light impinging on a particle, due to the combined effects of refraction, reflection and diffraction.

   Other

Other unlisted, specialized, or proprietary configuration.

   Your choices are...

   Double Pass Extinction

In the double pass design, the light source and detector are on the same side of the stack in a unit called a transceiver. A special reflector called a retro-reflector is installed where the photocell would be in a single pass unit. The purpose of this reflector is to send the light back along the same path it came across the stack. A half silvered mirror is placed in the light path. It reflects half of the returning light from the retro-reflector onto the detector. Since the light traverses the smoke two times, the unit is called a double pass system.

   Single Pass Extinction

Single pass extinction consists of a light source and photocell in a tube or attached to opposite sides of a smoke stack. The photocell is covered with a filter that makes its response similar to the spectral response of the human eye.

Search Logic:      User may specify either, both, or neither of the limits in a "From - To" range; when both are specified, matching products will cover entire range. Products returned as matches will meet all specified criteria.
   Accuracy

Accuracy is expressed as a percentage of the full-scale output.

Search Logic:      All matching products will have a value less than or equal to the specified value.
   Maximum Response Time

Maximum time between actuation of the sensing function and the output signal.
