| The Innovative Materials sector is composed of seven activities: Abrasives, Ceramics, Crystals, Grains & Powders, Performance Plastics, Reinforcements & Composites and Textile Solutions. The Abrasives activity was acquired in 1990 as part of Norton and combined with Saint-Gobain’s existing ceramics and plastics operations. The Reinforcements Branch (later divided into Reinforcements & Composites and Textile Solutions) was added to the sector in 2004.
There are strong common threads between the various activities that shape the sector’s core competencies.
