inclinometer
(Engineering) 1. An instrument that measures the attitude of an aircraft with respect to the horizontal. 2. An instrument for measuring the angle between the earth's magnetic field vector and the horizontal plane. Also known as dip circle. 3. An apparatus used to ascertain the direction of the magnetic field of the earth with reference to the plane of the horizon.
