These wavelength sensitive, filter type attenuators induce a fixed value loss between two connectors. When introduced into a fiber optic link , the attenuator will weaken the strength of the optical signal. This loss or "attenuation" is needed when an optical signal has too much power which exceeds the dynamic range of the receiver. (read more)
