Specialty Pipe, Tubing, Hose and Fittings

About Specialty Pipe, Tubing, Hose and Fittings

Specialty pipe, tubing, hose, and fittings are specialty or proprietary pipes, tubes, hoses, and fittings. They can be used to connect hoses, pipes, and tubes for in-line, offset, multi-port, and mounting configurations. There are several types of specialty pipe, tubing, hose, and fittings. Examples include PVC pipe, pipe fitting, hydraulic hose, steel pipe, steel tubing, aluminum tubing, stainless steel tubing, PEX tubing, copper pipe, nylon pipe fitting, plastic tubing, silicone tubing, and rubber hose. A PVC pipe is a solid, rigid, white plastic pipe, commonly used for household plumbing. A pipe fitting is a component which is used to connect pipe ends. A hydraulic hose acts as flexible medium to transfer hydraulic fluids between hydraulic components, valves, actuators and tools. A steel pipe is also extensively used to transfer fluids as it offers features such as durability, reliability, ductility, resiliency, and adaptability. Steel tubing and stainless steel tubing is used in situations where a high strength of the tube is desired such as military, aerospace and nuclear applications. Aluminum tubing is mostly used in sawing, machining, sanding, and polishing. PEX tubing is used to distribute the hot water throughout the radiant panel and transfer heat to the space being heated. A copper pipe is used for water feeds and central heating pipe work, because of its non-corrosive and non-toxic nature. Plastic tubing can be used with many different plastic compounds for flow lines for fluids and gases in pneumatic, hydraulic, process, medical, and many other specialized applications. Silicone tubing is most flexible tubing and is used at room temperature and with short contact periods. Rubber hose is specifically designed for heavy-duty applications such as industrial, maintenance, automotive, and construction purposes. Other types of specialty pipe, tubing, hose, and fittings are commonly available.
