About Workholding Components
Workholding components are precision-made production tooling used to safely and accurately position and hold work pieces during a production line process. Workholding components include alignment pins, locators, clamps, jaws, bushings, modular fixtures, and vises. A bench vise has flat, parallel jaws and is attached to a workbench. A machine vise clamps the workpiece securely. Workholders include manual and power chucks, endmill holders, soft and hard jaws and pallet fixtures, arbors, adaptors, boring and control bars, reduction sleeves, expanding mandrels, dead centers, base plates, and adapter plates. A spherical washer is a two-piece washer used when a stud and clamping surface are not exactly perpendicular. The top piece has a convex spherical shape that fits into the bottom piece. A C-washer has an opening in one side so that it can be slid into and out of position.
