About Industrial Inks

Industrial inks are liquids, powders or transfer tapes printed, sprayed, rolled or transferred onto substrates or media to create markings, patterns, print or graphics. Industrial inks consist of a colorant, solvent, or vehicle, and various additives. Industrial inks are generally used for printing on various materials, such as rubber, cardboard, papers, and metals. Industrial inks are also used for printing on plastic cards, films, porous, and non-porous substrates. Industrial ink from a printer is sprinkled on paper in the form of tiny dots to create text or images for printing. The ink nozzles are present on the print head, which moves back and forth across the paper in horizontal strips. There are many types of industrial inks. Examples include, ink solvent, solid ink, and ink additive. Ink solvent is a dye based ink that contains a mixture of solvents and is used for a quick drying method of printing. Solid ink is present in the solid state at a normal ambient temperature and is in the liquid state when present in the printing device. Solid ink gives a more enhanced quality printing on paper with more vivid colors. An ink additive, such as polyethylene wax is specially used for best quality printing of magazines. This ink additive is used as an anti-abrasion additive. Other industrial inks are commonly available.
