Powders and Powdered Materials

About Powders and Powdered Materials

Powders and powdered materials are finely divided or powdered forms of metals, ceramics, polymers, composites, minerals or other raw materials. There are several types of powders and powdered materials. Examples include powdered metal, metallurgy powders, alum powders, ceramic powders, and powder coat paints. Many industrial powders include forms of powdered metal that provide a scratch-resistant heavy duty coating. Metallurgy powder uses a sintering process for making various parts out of metal powder. Alum powder is used to cause suspended solids in water to be coagulated and subsequently filtered or vacuumed out. Ceramic powder is used in chemical engineering for applications requiring temperature, corrosion, and wear resistance. Powder coat paint is a relatively hard, abrasion resistant, and tough. Powder coat paint is often used in the automotive industry. Other powders and powdered materials are commonly available.
