About Industrial Pins

Industrial pins are cylindrical fasteners that are used to locate, align and join components. They are made out of aluminum, brass, titanium, wood and plastic. Products made from hardened steel, unhardened steel, and stainless steel are also available. Powered industrial pins, that are pneumatically, electrically, or hydraulically actuated, are also available. There are several basic types of industrial pins. Categories include dowel pins, spring pins, cotter pins and wire clips, hitch pins and linch pins, locating and fixture pins, and specialty products. Some industrial pins use the English or imperial system and are measured in inches or fractions of an inch. Others use the metric system and are measured in millimeters or centimeters. Important dimensions for industrial pins include inner diameter (ID), outer diameter (OD), and length.
